Firefox 20 Support!

posted Apr 3, 2013, 4:02 AM by Steven Tine   [ updated Jun 22, 2013, 2:30 PM ]

CookieSwap is now working on Firefox 20+!  Thanks to all the help from the beta testers.

[1-May-2013] CookieSwap version 13.4.331 has finally been reviewed by Firefox and is available for download.  This version supports Firefox version 20+.

[18-Apr-2013] Thanks to all the help from many beta tester, I have a version of CookieSwap ready for release that supports Firefox v20.  It's currently waiting to be reviewed by the nice folks over at Firefox/Mozilla.  If you want to download it while waiting for the review to complete, you can do so at this page:

Beta Test Update [16-Apr-2013]:
Thanks to all the beta testers that have been testing out the beta releases for me.
I should have an updated version posted to the Firefox site within a week.

[3-Apr-2013] As many of you have noticed, CookieSwap 0.5.284 does not work properly with the update to Firefox version 20.  I'm currently finishing testing for an update to support FF20!
Unfortunately Firefox made some changes as part of the per-window private browsing feature that had a major impact on CookieSwap.
If you have any questions, drop me an e-mail at CookieSwap@tinefamily.com.

Is there a toolbar icon so I can hide the Status/Add-on Bar?

Many people have asked for a CookieSwap toolbar icon so they can hide the Add-on Bar (aka the Status Bar).  For example:

or a more collapsed view:

I'm currently developing this feature and have a beta release available.  I'll officially release it to the Firefox site once testing is complete.  If you would like to access the beta version, send me at note at CookieSwap@tinefamily.com.

Does this work with Facebook?

posted Sep 11, 2011, 2:25 PM by Steven Tine

Yes, but it's a little odd how Facebook works when cookies are swapped while browsing a Facebook page.  So, if you swap CookieSwap profiles while looking at a Facebook page, it sometimes presents you with a login page (like it doesn't know who you are) even if you are already logged in on that CookieSwap profile.  If you see this happen, just reload http://facebook.com (or click on your Facebook bookmark) and Facebook will recognize you as the correct logged in user.

See the Help page for details on how to use CookieSwap in general, but for Facebook just add one extra step of reloading the main Facebook page (i.e. http://facebook.com) after swapping profile.

I can't find the CookieSwap menu in Firefox 4 or later!

Starting in Firefox4, the Status Bar (renamed to the Add-on) bar is not displayed by default.  So, to see the CookieSwap menu you must enable this bar by selecting  View->Toolbars->Add-On Bar in Firefox4 or Firefox Menu->Options->Add-On Bar in later versions.

See the Help page for more details.

Can I add more CookieSwap profiles (or rename existing ones)

Yes!  Under the CookieSwap menu, select "Manage Profiles".

Can each tab have a different CookieSwap profile?

posted Sep 4, 2011, 10:22 AM by Steven Tine

I can't tell you how often I get e-mail requests for this feature!  I know it would be great to support different cookies per tab, but that problem poses some significant challenges that I'm not planning to solve right now.  Sorry.
